Gwendoline House specialises in supporting both men and women who are no longer able to live independently. Compassionate staff provide assistance with all aspects of daily living, including washing, dressing, mobility, and personal care.
Please note that full nursing care is not available at this facility.
Our Care Approach
Our team of trained staff deliver day-to-day care under the supervision of experienced senior carers. A GP from Downend Health Group visits the home weekly, ensuring residents have ongoing access to medical support.
Any necessary medications for both existing and future conditions are prescribed by the GP and safely administered by our qualified care team.
Staff monitor residents' day-to-day health closely and respond promptly to any concerns. We can arrange transport for hospital appointments, and if family members are unable to attend, a member of our care team can accompany the resident (an additional charge applies for this service).
Each resident receives a personalised care plan, developed in collaboration with the individual and their family. These plans are regularly reviewed to ensure they continue to meet the resident’s evolving needs and preferences.
Our Activities and Community
We believe in supporting our residents' independence and well-being through meaningful daily activities. Residents are encouraged to maintain control over how they spend their time,
both within and outside the home, and to continue connections with friends, family, and their wider community.
Our weekly activities include:
1) Bingo sessions
2) Quizzes
3) Pamper afternoons
4) Group sing-alongs
We also enjoy a monthly visit from the local church, which provides an on-site service for those who wish to attend.
Regular resident meetings are held to gather feedback and ensure that everyone feels heard, respected, and involved in life at Gwendoline House.

Dining and Nutrition
At Gwendoline House, we take great pride in the quality of our food. All meals are freshly prepared on-site by our experienced kitchen team using wholesome, seasonal ingredients.
Residents are offered a variety of choices each day, with menus clearly displayed throughout the home. Upon admission, our Head Chef consults with each resident to understand their personal tastes, preferences, and any specialist dietary requirements.
This ensures that meals are not only nutritious but also enjoyable and tailored to individual needs.
We are committed to continuous improvement and value resident feedback. Each month, we hold ‘Food for Thought’ meetings, giving residents the chance to share their opinions and suggestions.
We use this feedback to regularly review and refine our menus to ensure we continue to meet expectations and deliver high-quality dining experiences.
