About us

Gwendoline House Residential Home is a long-term residential care home for the placement of older people aged 65 onwards. Located in the South of Gloucestershire bordering Downend, 3 miles from the centre of Bristol. The home consists of converted cottages based on three floors, with chair lifts servicing each floor.

It specialises in providing support to males and females who can no longer live on their own and require help with washing, dressing, mobility and all aspects of personal care. Full nursing care is not provided. All staff at Gwendoline House go through an extensive interview process and DRB checks before employment commences. Staff are encouraged to gain formal qualifications and are trained as per the mandatory requirements laid down by the Health & Social Care Act 2008 and the Care Quality Commission.

All staff are subject to mandatory training study days. Staff are responsible for carrying out the care needs of residents under supervision of the senior staff. We have a GP from Downend Health Group who visits Gwendoline House on a weekly basis. Medication for all existing and future medical conditions will be prescribed by the GP and administered by our qualified care team. Our staff will keep a close eye on resident's day-to-day health needs and respond accordingly.

We can arrange transport for hospital appointments and if relatives are unable to attend, we can arrange for one of our care team to accompany a resident during the appointment although there will be a charge for this service.

Our Care Team will work closely with the resident and family to create a personalised care plan which will be reviewed on a regular basis. We aim to make care plans as personal as possible and work together with the resident and family to ensure care is developed to suit each resident's individual needs.
